Sharing personal views on the 9850X3D, the IMC is generally a bit higher than the 9800X3D.
The CPU's default factory frequency of 5.625GHz cannot be handled at all with a 360 AIO water cooling setup.
Overall, the AMD 9850X3D comes from the factory essentially already compromised—it's hard to describe, not really an exciting X3D CPU.
The 9800X3D, being a slightly better-quality CPU, easily outperforms the 9850X3D.

Summary:
Basically, the sweet spot frequency for this CPU is around 5.55–5.5GHz. Depending on your cooling and CPU quality, you'll need to find your own optimal frequency.

Important note: ASUS BIOS 1.3.0.0 added the HTF temperature limit. Once your CPU reaches 60°C, it will forcibly trigger throttling.

Hope this helps all AMD OC enthusiasts. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year 2026 and all the best!

Vielen Dank schon mal.

VDDIO is related to VDDP. When you are pushing DRAM to higher frequencies and the CPU iMC memory controller isn't strong enough, increasing VDDP can improve memory stability during testing. Some CPUs may fail to boot if VDDP is increased beyond a certain point. At this time, increasing VDDIO might have a surprisingly positive effect, allowing the system to boot and pass the tests. Generally, higher MCLK requires higher VDDIO and VDDP. Differences in CPU IMC quality will also determine whether lower VDDIO and VDDP can achieve higher performance ceilings.

Niedrige vddio 1:1 6000-6600
Hohe vddio 2:1 8000+

Ah ok, thx. 👍 But there is no problem with mid range CPU VDDIO 1.2-1.25V or something.;)
I am just wondering why nobody is using those values here, which to me would sound logical
when you use vsoc of around 1.15V. Just wondering why so many use very low like 1.11V
or pretty high like 1.4V.

In the 6000-6600 synchronous mode, only SOC voltage is used while VDDIO and VDDP are not.
At 7800-9000Hz, SOC voltage is not used, but VDDIO and VDDP voltages are. Of course, the stronger the IMC controller, the more stable the DRAM frequency can be maintained at higher levels using lower voltages, whether in the 6000-6600 or 7800-9000 range.

In the 6000-6600 synchronous mode, only SOC voltage is used while VDDIO and VDDP are not.
Sorry, I come from Intel System, my first AMD system, what you mean with "not used"? Plays no role or left at auto voltage?
I use safe 6000cl30 for my Kingston Renegade 6400cl32 2x 16GB first. OC maybe later, just wanna know if my system here runs with 24/7 safe voltages.;)
I am just trying to understand all the voltages for 9800x3d.

You confuse me even more now.;) Still don't know what you mean with "not used".
I only asked for cpu vddio cause I could not find a screenshot where someone uses mid range
voltages 1.15-1.25V, just wondering why 1.11V or 1.4V most times. Thought maybe I overlook something here...

In memory synchronous mode at 6000-6600, you only need to increase the SOC voltage and then push your IMC capability. Of course, your DRAM quality will also determine the upper limits of TCL and tRCD. It is recommended to keep SOC around 1.25V. For VDDIO, setting it to 1.35V is usually sufficient because the motherboard itself is 1.45V. If you raise SOC to 1.3V and still can't pass testing, it's usually not due to insufficient DRAM quality. ...

To test the limits, you can first set the SOC to 1.3V, then test the upper limit of your memory frequency, for example, 6400-6600. If it passes the test, you can try lowering the SOC voltage. For daily use, it is recommended to keep it around 1.25V. If your system quality is good enough, you might even stabilize 6400MHz with 1.1V SOC voltage for long-term use, depending on the strength of your memory controller.

Thx. Or maybe I should say it like that. I wanna lower my vsoc to 1.1-1.15V, I will see if it works or not, so my thinking was cpu vddio should be between
1.2-1.25V or something, but to my surprise no one here is using those values. Some have problems lowering it to under 1,4V, but also many others here
use exactly 1.11V?🧐 And those use vsoc of 1.25 or 1.20 or 1.15V...so just trying to understand. I don't know or maybe some made bad experiences here
with mid range CPU VDDIO, who knows, maybe I miss something here...

Referencing my CPU, the memory control is quite strong. At extreme SoC power of 1.1V, it can pass 6400MHz in synchronous mode.

At 6600MHz, SoC at 1.25V can pass the test. This is memory control. ...

Then you can use the 1.15 SOC to test what frequency your memory controller can stably reach in synchronous mode, for example 6200MHz with 2067 FCLK-2200 FCLK. ...

Kannst du also vergessen.

Edit: Never mind, I forgot the Group B timings. I thought they would be set automatically with this kit, but it doesn't look like it. Now it's working without any problems in Cycle 3...

As preparation for the 9850X3D, I've already updated the BIOS on the APEX to the current beta version from safedisk.
The result for me, at least, is that the old settings no longer work. I disabled CO again on the CPU and set the new refresh mode to "normal" to get the same results as before. The 2nd and 3rd tRFC values are set to Auto.

My TM5 is now throwing errors at me, and quite frequently. Any ideas?

To be fair, it was from a rather old version 1605 ("don't touch a running system and so on").
Hi there, why you do not simply ask Safedisk himself if GroupB 60 needs to be apply manually, he use All Auto only need is to flash his Bios version 9961 from Here https://www.overclock.net/posts/29559979/
Also explained on ASUS B850M AYW OC Thread i had issues running the same stable memory Profile from Agesa 1.2.7.0 with his latest customized 1.3.0.0a Bios 9961 on Gskills 8000C38 A-die
He said no problem with Asus ver problem, but after rolled back 1.2.7.0 Bios version, got stable Profile GearOFF again

Why to update latest Agesa`s 1.3.0.0 for no reason, if no improvements or benefits are validated stable, without headaches.
But i`m a grass roots overclocker from the past. Ocing was about buying the cheapest and doing the most with the cheapest so this should be fun, not continously updating in vain, ruined your stable setup. Never fix if ain`t broken ;)

Hi,

Danke
