ASM1182e, PCI express packet switch, 1 PCIe x1 Gen2 upstream port to 2 PCIe x 1 Gen2 downstream ports.

Ist eh voll in Ordnung.
Ist halt die Frage, ob 2x RTL8127 mit so nem PLX dann noch viel "besser" als die "Bestandware" ist... muss man halt probieren bzw. auf Verbrauchserfahrungen warten...

Die "Stärke" vom 8127 ist ja, dass es ein toller Consumer-Chip ist. Wozu denn den ganzen "Ballast" mitschleppen, wenn mir 1 NIC reicht.

Glücklicherweise hat Alu, ohne chemische Hilfe, einen Schmelzpunkt von rund 650°C somit dürften wir das nicht zu Gesicht bekommen. ^^

Ich bin da die Tage zufällig reingestolpert...
Der CLP Tut auf YT hat vor einiger Zeit den RT-BE92U getestet. Wo er sich auch den Verbrauch anschaut. Das Ding hat 1x 10Gbit und 4x 2.5Gbit.

Was werden da eigentlich für Chips genutzt? Oder was macht das Ethernet bei solchen Kisten? WEIL: Wenn ich mir den Verbrauch so angucke - und wie hier im Thread das rauf und runter geht mit/ohne - und mir da grob was zusammenreime, daß es ja ein ganzer Router ist, dann ist das schon SEHR wenig. Und da war auch mal der 10Gbit Link aktiv.

Mech. nicht, elektrisch schon in mechanisch längeren Slots, ist aber eine Consumer Sache.
Mein B550 Riptide kann das z.B.
Allgemein gibts ein paar Boards, die 2 Lanes am x4 oder x16 Slot (mech.) haben, auch bei AM5, ist imho auch nicht so blöd.

Imho kann aber nicht jedes PCIe Gerät auf "x2" "zurückschalten", die älteren LSI HBAs (vor 9300 glaube ich) können afaik nur x1/x4/x8, später dann (ab 9300?) können sie x1/x2/x4/x8...
Wie das bei älteren NICs ist, weiss ich nicht.

Aber ja, PCIe x2 ist schon eher exotisch würde ich sagen... wobei mir 2x PCIe x2 in den meisten Fällen lieber wäre als 1x PCIe x4... die große Bandbreite braucht man ja kaum...

Fürs erste siehts ja mal ganz gut aus... aber hast schon recht, erstmal abwarten.
Der RTL8125 war aber sehr positiv, wie ich finde, beim 8126 hab ich auch nix gehört, wobei der ja eher ein Exot ist.

Da Intel keine 10GBE für Consumer hat, hat das also nichts mit 10G zu tun.

Beim "MS-02 Ultra" mit 2x 25Gb ist Idle-Verbrauch wahrscheinlich nicht ohne
(ok, ist ja nur eine gesteckte Dual-NIC, die auch jeder andere PC haben könnte)

Ich hab hier ja diese Killer EG3100 auf den Asrocks, bin mir da nicht 100% sicher, ob das nun Realtek oder Intel ist. TrueNAS Core hatte keine Treiber. :fresse:

Consumer WIFI-Router sind leider defintiv nicht mein (Haupt)-Interessengebiet, aber Vermutung (basierend auf Teardown des 4 Monate älteren ASUS RT-BE88U): Chips eher Broadcom-lastig und gewisse mögliche (funktionale) Ähnlichkeit mit https://docs.broadcom.com/doc/4916-PB1XX ) auf Seite 2 "Typical Wi-Fi 7 Access Point Block Diagram".
Vom im ASUS RT-BE92U verbauten BCM4912 gibt es kein öffentliches Datenblatt, sondern nur eingeschränkt informatives "Product Overview" .
(ein komplett unabhängiger Seitenhieb: Broadcom ist jene "nette" , berüchtigt geldgierige US-Firma die VMware aufgekauft hat und dann massivst die Preise für deren Produkte/Bundles erhöht hat.)
Ich würde den niedrigen Idle-Verbrauch des RT-BE92U als definitiv gutes (techn Öko)System-Design ansehen, aber nicht überschätzen.

Meine Präferenzen liegt mehr auf Features/ Usability / längerfristigen Einsatz und Support, für mich wäre z.B. ein (von der Steckplatz-Anzahl her annähernd vergleichbarer) Router wie "Turris Omnia NG" interessanter (für Edge).

Pudels Kern war alleine der Mehrverbrauch bzw. allgemeiner Verbrauch, mit eben einem 10Gbit über Kupfer. Das kam mir irgendwie extrem wenig vor, gegenüber den Gesamtverbräuchen.

Hätte exakt das Gleiche für ~51€ bei "Baba" haben können, aber die Zahlung brach wegen der besagten, fehlenden Nummer ab, die ich nicht hatte
Mit Alipay wäre es angeblich gegangen, aber damit wollte ich nicht zahlen. PP ging ja zuvor auch - und auf einmal nicht mehr!?
