Thank you too for approving the look of the Prime. We took a risk here, combining our usual functional futuristic design with classical audio design elements.
The Prime has no volume control at all. The control only turns it on and off and selects its inputs. It is a universal control that can be used on multiple Burson products in a stack configuration.
The idea behind the Prime is actually very simple. The Conductor Voyager's volume control is already very good, but when it comes to audio circuit design, the shorter and simpler the signal path, the better.
We've also gone quite a bit further with the power supply. The Voyager uses 5 MCPS, while the Prime has 10 MCPS, together with a new two-level internal layout. This gives the different stages cleaner and more independent power.
The Prime is also a true dual-mono, mirror-symmetrical design, so there's even less interaction between the left and right channels. In listening terms, this should come through as better separation, imaging, soundstage and transparency.
We also pushed the MOSFET amplification stage deeper into Class-A. Together with the stronger power supply, this gives the Prime better control, dynamics, fine detail and texture. : )
