Es ist zwar der (st)Inquirer, aber vielleicht werden zumindest meine schlimmsten Befürchtungen doch wahr. Abgesehen von den Gerüchten aber wenigstens auch einige interessante Details zu den Namen der Models und Speeds.

AMD pushes out Phenom SKUs once more
Renumbers the FX line. Welcome, then, FX-80, 90 and 91

AMD IS COMING out with Phenom SKUs at last. The official roadmaps we've seen push it out another quarter from late Q3 to early Q1/08 on the desktop side.
Officially, the Phenom FX will be November or December for the 1S variants, 2S will be Q1/08. The newest information from AMD shows that there will be a 1S FX-80 at 2.2-2.4GHz, the spread at this point is somewhat worrying, a 2S FX-90 at the same speeds, and an FX-91 at 2.4-2.6GHz. TDPs are not officially listed.
The lower level classes will be ranked by class and series, with class being a two letter prefix and series being a 4 digit number. The classes are XY with Y=P being 89W TDPs and up, S at 65W and E at 45W.
The X is the product name with G mapped to high end Phenoms, L being low end, and B ending up in the middle. The FX line stays FX with no specific meaning attached.
The four digit number is taking on an Intel like confusion, with the official guidance being "indicates major benefit steps" and "increases with feature enhancements withing a family". Hopefully they will not be as belligerently obtuse as Intel in this regard.
In the end, it ends up with new names and desktop parts for 1S this year, 2S next. We can't say we are very happy about this, but that is the latest. µ

IN ADDITION TO the new FX parts, AMD has a line of normal Phenom components.
According the numbering scheme these are 7xxx for four cores and 6xxx for dual cores.
The launch parts are all single socket variants with the GP-7000 and 7100 in Q4 alongside the GS-6550. In Q1/08, those will be followed by the GP-6800, GS-6650, GE-6600, 6500 and 6400. All are AM2+ socket chips, as is the FX-80. The only 1207+ chips are the FX-9x series.
The listed speeds for the 7100s are 2.2-2.4GHz and the 7000 line are between 2.0-2.2GHz. The 6800 comes in somewhere from 2.4 to 2.8GHz, the 6650 at 2.2-2.6 and the 6550 at 2.0-2.4. No speeds are listed for the other parts.
As we said earlier, this range is troubling, but more on that at a later date. Things are coming more into focus, even if it is a murky focus.
