aura sync will not recognize graphics card

I have an aura graphics card and motherboard. Motherboard works fine but whenever I install aura sync it never shows the graphics card in my list of devices. I know two things.

1. When I got the card it was "breathing" red and I had it working for some time. (maybe some sort of factory reset is needed. Makes me wonder if the card uses non volatile memory that may have become corrupt.)
2. Not sure where I found the file below but it works to change the color on the card (limited to 3 effects). This would be fine except that using two programs makes syncing not possible.

"AURA RGB Lighting Control for Graphic card & XG-STATION_Version 0.0.6.1.exe" (it is signed by asus i cant find it on their website however)
Has anyone every been through this before?
If so, let me know if you have a fix.
