The upgrade to 1024M may not be necessary. You better check it first using some proper program how much RAM you actually will use. With the regular applications 512M is sufficient. I'd advice to put more RAM only if you know why you need it. Otherwise it will just suck some of your battery...

12" Xcase sleeve available at pearl.de for 10 euro might fit your Sony SZ. Check the sizes. Also the sleeves for 12" Apple powerbooks may fit, though not perfectly. Check also Elecom Europe website for polyurethane ("zero shock") sleeves which are designed to fit Apple notebooks.

It is old MSI S270. You will have rather bad battery live with this lappy. One should also check if the keyboard is the new improved one, or the older model which was not that good.
