Allgemeines :


X58 motherboards to be six to eight layers , Will be expensive to make

During a chat with one of the motherboard manufacturers we were told that X58 motherboards will be no less than six layers and might even need eight layers. The reason for this is the triple-channel memory configuration as it brings with it at least a couple of issues when it comes to motherboard construction.

First of all it's a matter of getting the traces down, six DDR3 memory slots uses a lot of traces on a motherboard and this requires extra layers. The other problem is that there will be signal leakage if the extra layers aren't used, which will cause all sorts of problems, including instability and data loss.

Asus warns about Core i7 memory Voltages

The sticker reads "Accord to Intel CPU SPEC, DIMMS with Voltage settings over 1.65V may damage the CPU permanently. We recomment that you install the DIMMs with the Voltage setting below 1.65V" and if that's not warning enough, we don't know what is, as frying a Core i7 won't be a fun or cheap experience.

nicht zwangsweise, dual channel ist auch weiterhin möglich.

ich will ja tripel haben. Was wollt ihr denn alle mit Sli? NV wird das eh wieder nicht freigeben. Jedesmal der Hype und dann wird es eh nix. crossfire würde mir reichen schon allein weil ich 2 Monitore nutze und da geht Sli ja nicht (noch immer nicht...)

Hmm, das Abit gefällt mir irgendwie, sieht schön "unaufgeregt" aus. Die DDR3-Preise haben sich ja auch zeimlich beruhigt, sehe ich gerade.

Die Hersteller pappen in so einem frühen Stadium oft 0815-Kühler oder gar keine Kühler auf die Boards, damit die Konkurrenz sich nicht gleich die besten Ideen abgucken kann. Da kommen also garantiert wieder aufwendige Heatpipes bei den Topmodellen.
